The Gilmer High School Marching Band comes from the beautiful North Georgia mountain town of Ellijay. Gilmer County, also known as Georgia’s apple capital, is located 75 miles north of Atlanta nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Gilmer County Charter School System welcomes over 4,000 students daily and are home of the BOBCATS! The Gilmer High School Marching Band has a rich tradition of Superior Ratings in both Marching and Concert Band in the Southeast as well as internationally. Most recently, the GHS Band performed at The Statue of Liberty in New York City in April 2015. In April 2013, the GHS Band performed a patriotic concert on the steps of the Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C. The GHS Band was crowned grand champion of the 1998 St. Patrick’s Day Street Band Competition held in Dublin, Ireland. The band also participated in the National Day of St. Patrick’s Parade in Ireland that same year. In 2002, the GHS Band was chosen as one of 15 high school bands to participate in the Hollywood Christmas Parade held in Hollywood, California. The 2016 GHS Marching Band was awarded Class 3A Champions at the Armuchee Invitational and the Lake Lanier Tournament of Bands. The Gilmer High School Band Program is under the direction of Mr. Joe Pflueger. Mr. Pflueger has been the Director of Bands at Gilmer High School for the past 6 years and served as the Assistant Director from 1993 to 2010. Superintendent of GCCSS is Dr. Shanna Wilkes. Principal of Gilmer High School is Ms. Carla Endsley. GO BOBCATS!!
