Grant Gelt is an American actor and entrepreneur best known for his memorable role as Bertram Grover Weeks in the beloved coming-of-age classic The Sandlot (1993). As the bespectacled, slightly mischievous character who introduced the gang to “chaw”, Gelt became a fan favorite, helping cement the film as one of the most enduring films about both baseball and childhood.
A Los Angeles native, Gelt began his acting career at age six, working steadily across film, television, commercials, and voice-over throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s. His credits include Barry Levinson’s Academy Award-winning movie Avalon, guest roles on TV staples Boy Meets World, Blossom, Eerie, Indiana, Hey, Arnold!, and Northern Exposure. He also appeared in numerous national commercials for major brands.
After transitioning away from acting, Grant Gelt has built a career outside Hollywood, on the business side of entertainment and technology. He is the co-founder of Masscult, a multidisciplinary creative agency, and Prohibition Merch, a full-service merchandise company. He also co-founded and co-chairs Play Forever, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to reduce the obstacles preventing kids and young athletes from participating in sports, launched with fellow Sandlot cast mates Victor DiMattia (“Timmy Timmons”) and Shane Obedzinski (“Tommy ‘Repeat’ Timmons”).
Now living in Nashville with his wife, Melissa, and their dog Godzilla, Grant remains deeply proud of The Sandlot’s legacy and is honored by the continued love the film receives from fans of all ages.
