Nilaja is an accomplished undergraduate student at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), pursuing her passion for screen acting at the prestigious School of Theater, Film, and Television. Prior to attending UCLA, she graduated from the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (SDSCPA), where she majored in Theater. With a strong academic focus, Nilaja graduated in the top 3% of her class with a 4.6 GPA and earned various honors, including induction into the National Society of High School Scholars and recognition as a Golden Pyramid Scholar by the San Diego Unified School District. As a young woman of African descent with heritage from Nigeria, Nilaja is a passionate advocate and uses her artistic platform to highlight important social issues such as anti-racism, social injustice and social equity. Nilaja has raised awareness and showcased her passion through original works including poems, art pieces, and live performances, all of which emphasize the need for awareness and change in society. Her advocacy has inspired many, particularly young people, for whom she serves as a positive role model and an agent of hope and change for the future. With a keen eye for fashion, Nilaja’s creative talents extend beyond the performing arts. She explored the world of design through internships with San Diego Fashion Week and by founding a student fashion club at SDSCPA. As an avid traveler, she has visited more than 35 U.S. states and six countries, broadening her perspectives and enriching her creative expression. In August 2024, Nilaja was crowned Teen Regency International, representing the West Coast/California, adding another significant achievement to her already impressive list of accomplishments.
