Roundtable of Chinese American Organizations

Founded in April 2005, the Roundtable of Chinese American Organizations (RCAO) is a leading umbrella organization serving the Chinese American community. Its 217 member organizations include hometown associations, chambers of commerce, professional groups, and cultural, academic, women’s, and youth organizations. Together, they form a broad network for community service and cooperation. RCAO works to unite these organizations, protect the rights and interests of Chinese Americans, and promote cultural and economic exchanges between the United States and China.

For more than two decades, RCAO has organized Chinese New Year celebrations, Chinese National Day events, and other programs that bring communities together. In 2008 and 2010, it helped bring Olympic- and World Expo-themed floats to the Rose Parade in Pasadena, sharing Chinese culture with an international audience. More recently, RCAO has organized participation in the Hollywood Christmas Parade and Asian Pacific American Heritage Month charity walks. These events give its member organizations opportunities to celebrate their heritage and connect with the wider community. RCAO has also welcomed visiting delegations from China and supported exchanges between the two countries.

RCAO’s work extends beyond cultural events. It has addressed issues affecting Chinese Americans, including racial discrimination, civil rights, and education about Chinese American history. Its leadership, committees, and member organizations work together across areas such as education, legal affairs, and community engagement. Through its programs, RCAO builds bridges for cultural exchange between the people of China and the United States and among the many ethnic communities that make up American society. Looking ahead, RCAO will continue to strengthen cooperation among Chinese American organizations, share Chinese culture, and bring communities closer together.
