Founded by Sona Vardanyan in 2012, Sonata Music School is a vibrant music education community serving more than 500 students at two locations in Glendale, California. Sonata provides exceptional instruction across a wide variety of instruments, creating a supportive and inspiring environment where students of all ages can develop musical skill, confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music.
Under the direction of Grigor Poghosyan, Sonata Music School’s Dhol Class brings the powerful rhythms and vibrant spirit of Armenian music to the stage. The ensemble has participated in numerous concerts, cultural celebrations, and festivals, proudly sharing Armenian music and traditions with diverse audiences.
Sonata Music School has also performed on FOX 11’s Good Day L.A., bringing the youthful energy and Armenian spirit of its students to a citywide audience.
At the heart of Sonata’s mission is a commitment to preserving and celebrating the Armenian-American cultural legacy while inspiring a new generation to carry it forward. Through these young musicians, Armenian heritage not only preserves the past—it continues to grow, evolve, and thrive.
